How To Choose A lawn Mower

We stock and can access a huge range of lawn mowers. Many of these are on our website.

When selecting a mower the 3 key questions are:

  1. How long does it take to mow the lawn ? Larger lawn larger engine for long life
  2. How steep is the land? Most mowers these days have a 4 stroke engine (ie like the car, oiland petrol separate). If the land slopes more than 30degrees you may need to use a 2 stroke engine (ie oil mixed with the petrol = engine lubrication guaranteed of sloping land) and
  3. Steel versus Alloy. An alloy bodied mower will generally be $150 to $200 more expensive than a steel bodied mower. However, a steel body will rust. The more expensive alloy body can generally last 10 to 15 years.

An $800 to $900 mower that lasts 15 years costs $1 per week. A $300 mower that lasts 5 years costs $2 per week. The main reason to buy a steel bodied mower is that is all you can afford.
